Depicted is the moment Jesus calls the fishermen Peter and Andrew. They were just pulling a full net from the lake. "Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men", says Jesus.

This is one of the panels from Duccio's famous Maestà polyptych. Before the masterpiece was sawn into several pieces, the panel was on the back, between other panels with scenes of Christ as a teacher.

Previously, this page featured a historiated capital O, an initial made by Fra Angelico in the San Domenico Missal (c. 1430). Inside the O, the same episode is shown.
