These two panels are somewhat reminiscent of the Adam and Eve made by Cranach's contemporary Albrecht Dürer in 1507. But as is often the case with Cranach, the naked figures look like rubber dolls, with wrong proportions. Remarkable is the seductive smile with which Eve offers the apple to Adam. The latter seems to hesitate. But as is known, he will still take a bite, despite God's explicit ban. |
