Kamal ud-din Behzad

1450 - 1535

Afghan painter of miniatures. He lived in Herat in the west of Afghanistan when that city was part of the Timurid empire. Later he would also work in Tabriz. In both cities Behzad was the head of the royal ateliers (workshop), which says much about his importance and stature.
